Just a reminder that no one filter or piece of equipment is a silver bullet or failure proof. Consider your contaminants and take the appropriate precautions. Water treatment is YOUR responsibility and you assume all liability and risk in treating water for consumption for both yourself and anyone depending on you.

Guidelines on Chlorine as a Treatment Option
If chlorine is your primary treatment method, I highly recommend you examine the resources below and take a good, hard look at not only where it is effective but how and where it is not. Furthermore, take note of what is required to do this safely and also effectively. This chemical treatment method sounds like a straightforward, surefire method, but without the correct math, planning, and testing, it can be deadly. Remember, water treatment is YOUR responsibility and you assume all liability and risk in treating water for yourself and anyone depending on you.
The Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology (CAWST) is an enormous resource on the use of chlorine around the world. Many of the statistics and figures that I have shared are directly from my learning experiences both from CAWST as well as Engineers Without Borders (EWB). For more information on CAWST you can find them at cawst.org.
